I’m Mike, otherwise known as Mok. I also go by Mig or Mog, depending on which version of my last name I’m using. I wish my mom named me Buck. At one time, I answered to Tumbleweed.

I live in the Boulder, CO area with my partner-in-crime and our dog Norman. Moved here in 2003ish to attend school at CU-Boulder. Loved it enough to stay, get hitched, and root-down into the community.

Technically I’m a “first millennial,” but I didn’t get much gen-x exposure and developed in the crucible of my own kind in AOL chatrooms. As a result, I share late-stage millennial traits, values, and beliefs. Besides gaming; I don’t game, nor am I a gamer. My family could only afford to rent a Nintendo from Blockbuster or King Soopers during winter breaks, which surprise! isn’t enough to get interested.

Hmm, what else? I’m diagnosed ASD/ADHD. Personality type INTJ. Fail to recognize authority structures. Perceive time differently than most. Gestalt-type pattern recognition. Dink around with systems of meaning, digital systems, general complexity modeling, processes, data structures, information design. I work in my tiny garage on my bicycles, hike when I can, volunteer when I can, camp when I can.

In the past, I’ve worked as a parking garage attendant at the City of Boulder, door unlocker at CU-Boulder, and editor for small literary organizations. During a brief detour, I lived in NYC where I was a courier in the warm months and an office schlub at Columbia University Law School in the winter.

Another thing that feels like it belongs in a bio: I got my MFA in Writing and Literature at CU in 2014. Shrug. This one time, I got mistaken for someone else and worked 7 years for startups and big, dumb international businesses.

Now, I earn money delivering food orders for DoorDash customers. Or whatever comes my way from Upwork, etc.
